Holy Week: Good Friday
Friday, April 02, 2010, 12:00 AM
After Jesus' institution of the Lord's Supper on the night of Maundy Thursday, we celebrate Good Friday together as the moment Jesus "humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." He followed through on the Father's will. He died the death we deserved so that we would not have to. He paid the debt and bore the punishment all for our own sins. In this service we acknowledge this great cost and praise Jesus for this great sacrifice.
"Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery." Hebrews 2.14-15
Our Good Friday service will be held at 7pm in St. George's Episcopal Church, located on 16th St between 2nd and 3rd Ave (entrance around the corner adjacent to Stuyvesant Square). Childcare will be available for children under 5.
